Turnip Fries
2 large turnips
1/2 onion
2 Tablespoons olive oil
3/4 cup parmesan cheese
Peel and slice the turnips into french fry shapes. Slice the onion smaller.
Toss with the olive oil and parmesan cheese until well coated. I cook these in a large cast iron skillet first at 350 for about ten mnutes, then hotter, 400 degrees or so, until they're browned.
Check on them and turn as necessary. Salt is good.
Here's I think the one instance of these recipes where I like the result reasonably well, but my husband gets depressed because it makes him think of real fries that he can't have.
But I think these are fun to have with hamburgers.
